Swimmer of the Month for June 2016
Congratulations to Beatriz, our Steve Wallen Swim School swimmer of the month for June! Beatriz is 66 years old, and has been taking swimming lessons with us for a little over a month. Unfortunately, due to several bad experiences and near drowning’s, she has had a lifelong fear of the water. She signed up for swim classes with SWSS in order to face her fears and learn how to swim. Beatriz started with the basic skills of swimming such as learning how to blow bubbles and putting her face in the water, and has now progressed to swimming across the pool! In the past, Beatriz was very discouraged in the water, and lacked the confidence needed to swim.
Now that she has taken classes at Steve Wallen Swim School, she has gained a positive outlook toward swimming and has become eager and motivated to succeed. Her motivation and positive attitude encourage everyone around to smile. Beatriz has made incredible progress swimming as well as gained an enormous amount of confidence in the water over the last month. Correct breathing and confidence in the water are essential in order to swim correctly and achieve full enjoyment in the water. Now that she has learned freestyle and back floating, she is working on her side breathing. At SWSS, we firmly believe basic swimming skills and water safety are essential life skills for everyone to develop. These skills can potentially save a persons life, or even help her save another’s. Swimming is fun for all ages! Way to go, Beatriz! Another champion swimmer at SWSS!
