Year Round Swimming

Here at Wallen Swim, we don’t believe that swimming should be a seasonal thing. Why should we only be able to swim in the summer, when it is hot enough to swim in an outdoor pool? Swimming is a fantastic form of exercise no matter what time of year it is. And if you want to get better at swimming, of course you don’t want to stop practicing when the weather turns cold. This is why it was so important for us to offer an indoor swimming pool for our students to be able to use, no matter what the weather outside is like.

Swimming Lessons All Year

We offer swimming lessons all year, not just during the summer. Swimming is a skill that needs to be practiced if you are going to be good at it. Of course, you can swim just in the summer time and many people do. You can have a lot of fun and learn the basic strokes. If you aren’t a super competitive swimmer, there’s nothing wrong with only swimming during the summertime. You aren’t going to forget how to swim between September and June.

On the other hand, swimming is a really great form of exercise. And swimming lessons can help you get better at swimming for exercise. If you are swimming as part of a fitness regime, having a regular swimming lesson that you go to can help you show up for it and not blow it off. So many of our students here at Wallen Swim keep swimming all year round simply to have a great, healthy form of exercise no matter what the weather is like.

Swimming is excellent exercise. It really does work all your muscles, including the deep stabilizing muscles that we often forget about. It gives you strength and resistance training without feeling like you’re having to punish your body. It gives you cardio without having to sweat. Swimming lets you work out as intensely as you want to, without injuring your joints or legs.

Gravity makes it so that low-impact exercises are also often low-intensity. If you have any health conditions that prevent you from being able to put a heavy burden on your joints, your choices for getting a good workout in are rather limited outside of the water. But swimming is really the perfect exercise. The water supports your body and keeps you from damaging your knees, ankles and hips, while also providing resistance.
